Memorandum of Understanding

In order to propose and deliver activity as part of LFA2026, you are agreeing to our Memorandum of Understanding for LFA Organisers, which sets out what we expect from you and what you can expect from the the Festival return.

This Memorandum of Understanding is not intended to be legally binding on the Participants of the London Festival of Architecture (LFA).  It is a statement of intent and clarification of how participants will work together with us in celebration of architecture, design and city-making in London.

What we need from you:

Before / During Festival

  • Submissions of Festival activity before submission deadlines. No new events will be accepted after our deadlines. The same applies for event updates, we cannot guarantee that any information submitted after deadlines have passed will be processed. We can only promote the events that we have information on.
  • Promotion of the LFA and your Festival activity through your organisation’s website, newsletter and social media channels, using LFA digital toolkits and guidance. Information about this can be found in the LFA account section.
  • Inclusion of LFA branding at your activity, so that people know you are part of the Festival and so they can find your event. Every year people struggle to find some Festival events – the branding is there to help! Information about this is shared in April, if not before.
  • Clarity about your activity, on the listing and in reality. The enjoyment, safety and joy of Festival attendees depends on your activity being delivered as promoted and in the safest, most inclusive and sustainable way. We know sometimes things go wrong. If this is the case, you need to let us know as soon as possible so we can alter our publicity and manage expectations.
  • Provision of 2 free tickets for the LFA team or key partners for your activity, where applicable.

Post Festival:

  • Feedback on your activity and Festival experience and photos of your events. The forms will be found in the account section in June. The deadline for LFA2026 feedback forms and photography is 6th July.
  • If you have a professional photographer, that’s great – please make sure you have permission from the photographer to use the photos on NLA platforms before sharing with the team.

What we’ll provide in return:

  • Access to be part of NLA’s annual celebration of architecture and city making – having been selected to participate by our team and Curation Panel. We will list your activity on the Festival’s programme, and where appropriate via social media and printed guide.
  • Access to the LFA Organiser Portal – where you can propose and manage your activity, as well as access useful resources to help make your activity the best it can be, including guidance around marketing.
  • The support of a small but dedicated and hardworking team and mentors, doing their best to support you, your activity and it’s legacy.
  • Invites to LFA Organiser Calls and Surgery Sessions, where you will be able to meet other LFA organisers, gain ideas, ask questions and make your activity the best it can be.
  • Up to two tickets per organiser to the LFA Opening Party –tickets depending on venue capacity.

Final Key information:

  • LFA is run by NLA – London’s Built Environment Community. NLA is in no way responsible or liable for the funding, delivery, success or safety of events included in the programme. We have guidance on best practice on each in our account section.
  • Event organisers shall hold harmless NLA and its employees, with respect to all claims, demands, actions, costs, expenses, losses, damages and all other liabilities arising from or incurred by reason of the actions and/or omissions of the event organiser in relation to their LFA event. It shall be the responsibility of the event organiser to manage and pay for any liabilities arising throughout the development and delivery of their event.
  • Our press team will use their judgement to identity particularly media-friendly events to provide additional publicity. We ask you to understand that not all events can receive the same level of publicity and to respect their judgement. We are unable to accept and promote submissions we receive late.
