Using the NLA's 1:2000 scale model of London, urban designer and writer Krish Nathaniel will expand on the stories behind a number of sites across London which are central to the South Asian story in the capital, and how these places and spaces have left their mark both on the histories of London and the UK.
Drawing on his recently published South Asian London History Map (2024), Krish has selected seven sites that speak to Britain’s 400-year relationship with the subcontinent.
This talk will begin in the Dockyards and the East India Company, before moving to central London and the East End, exploring artefacts, buildings and figures from the diaspora that have shaped the city and the country: from the Readymoney Drinking Fountain in Regent’s Park, to India House and the Jagonari Women’s Centre.
