London Festival of Architecture in collaboration with Architecture LGBT+ and Freehold—and proudly supported by Brookfield Properties and Eastern City BID—has announced Proudspeaker by oo office as the winning entry for the 2025 Pride Float Competition.
A Monumental Megaphone Celebrating Queer Voice and Visibility
Launched earlier this year, the competition invited architects and designers to imagine a float for the 2025 Pride in London Parade that celebrates LGBTQIA+ visibility, creativity, and identity within the built environment. Set to take centre stage on Saturday 5 July 2025, Proudspeaker is more than a float—it is a sculptural statement, a mobile monument to queer resilience, and a powerful expression of this year’s LFA theme: Voices.
A Collective Exhale in the Heart of the City
Founded by Rania Francis, Karl Mok, and Oleg Sevelkov, oo office is a London-based architecture and research practice working at the intersection of cultural narratives and material experimentation. With Proudspeaker, the studio proposes a monumental megaphone—what they call “a collective exhale”—that amplifies LGBTQIA+ voices and stories in public space.
“The form of the Proudspeaker is composed of individual stories, gathered and woven together in a magpie-like process,” says the team. “It becomes speech made visible—an act of joy, pride, and protest.”
Responding to the Theme: Voices
Chosen for its compelling interpretation of LFA’s 2025 theme, Voices, Proudspeaker transforms the parade float into a vibrant symbol of unity, visibility, and protest. It calls attention to the ongoing need for representation in the architectural profession, turning the act of moving through the city into an act of defiance and celebration.
“Architecture doesn’t just shape our buildings—it shapes our communities, our conversations, and our sense of belonging,” said Rosa Rogina, Director of the London Festival of Architecture. “Proudspeaker is a defiant, joyful, and beautifully conceived response to our 2025 theme. It honours queer creativity and boldly asserts that LGBTQIA+ voices not only belong in the built environment—they are fundamental to it.”
The competition reflects an ongoing commitment to equity and inclusion in architecture and placemaking. It also highlights the potential of creative practice to serve as a platform for underrepresented voices—especially in moments of public celebration and civic presence.
