Windrush Voices of Barnet explores ways in which members of the Windrush generation have woven their lived experiences into the fabric of the borough and how the diverse voices of the community have shaped and responded to the urban environments of North London and made it their home.
Join us on Windrush Day, Sunday 22nd June, to celebrate how the Windrush Generation helped to create the London society we know today with a day of screenings, an exhibition, and stories about placemaking which nurture a sense of home and belonging.
The pop-up exhibition and the video interviews will be viewable on the computer terminals in the library all week (22-28 June) during the self-service hours of Hendon Library for eligible library card holders, and open to the public at the mentioned times.
The event is part of an ongoing collaboration between Middlesex University, BACA (Barnet African Caribbean Association), and Barnet Libraries, and features artwork and an oral history archive created by BA Film students at Middlesex University.
