Hounslow and the University of West London (UWL) are proud to be a London Festival of Architecture Destination for 2025 as part of the Golden Mile Centenary celebrations. This milestone offers a unique opportunity to honour the borough’s rich industrial heritage while showcasing the Golden Mile’s transformation into a hub for innovation, creativity, and sustainable development.
UWL invites Hounslow residents, students and its staff to take part in a social hackathon event at its prominent Paragon Building on the Great West Road on Wednesday 18 June 2025 from 5pm to 7.30pm. Enjoy panoramic views of west London on the eleventh floor as we come together to brainstorm community ideas in a spectacular architectural setting.
A social hackathon is a challenge-based event where participants generate ideas to support charities working with community groups. As part of this event and to support Pride Month, Hounslow residents, UWL students and staff are being tasked to come up with creative ideas to help expand the service of West London Queer Project (WLQP), an organisation that aims to improve the lives of LGBTQ+ people in west London and beyond. This can be ideas around a new project or campaign, or strategies to build cohesion and reach underrepresented LGBTQ+ communities.
WLQP offers fun events, a safe space, a welcoming, supportive and safe environment to uplift, empower, and connect as well as advocacy, awareness-raising and change making activities among local policymakers. By taking part you can have a positive impact on a vital Hounslow-based community organisation.
