How can organisations meaningfully identify and address discrimination and unconscious bias in the workplace? And what role do individuals at all levels play in building a truly inclusive culture?

Join Women in Architecture UK for an evening of candid conversations, lived experiences, and practical insights into tackling workplace discrimination. Together, we’ll explore the many forms of discrimination – including direct, indirect, associative, perceived, harassment, and victimisation – and how they show up in professional environments. From race and religion to gender, disability, age, pregnancy, and sexual orientation, discriminatory practices – both subtle and overt – continue to affect individuals and limit organisational growth. Through personal stories, examples of inclusive practices, and interactive discussion, we’ll uncover the systemic barriers that sustain inequality and share strategies for lasting change.

Chair: Danna Walker – Built by Us, Founder and CEO
Speakers:
Robbie Turner – Director of Inclusion and Diversity, RIBA
Anna Ifanti – Director, Chief of Staff, Architecture Line, Egis
Teri Okoro – Founder and Director, TOCA Architecture, ARB Board Member

This event is designed to raise awareness, spark dialogue, and encourage a collective shift towards more equitable, respectful, and supportive workplaces.

Our priority was to secure a venue that meets the accessibility needs of all attendees, including wheelchair users, individuals with various visible and invisible disabilities or mobility impairments. We have secured a venue with features such as level entry access, has accessible toilets on ground level, appropriate signage and lighting for individuals with visual impairments and those with neurodiverse conditions, as well as close proximity to public transportation and parking facilities to ensure inclusivity.

WIA and VitrA will provide a safe, equitable, inclusive space where everyone can bring their whole selves to the event without fear of discrimination. Discrimination of any form will not be tolerated.

We hope to attract and engage with many people from all backgrounds, including those from underrepresented and marginalised groups. We will be filming the event, capturing interviews of speakers and attendees, making the film available with key highlights and takeaways.

We are conscious of providing respectful food and drink to meet diverse, cultural needs.
