This event is for Everyone

Clerkenwell is a district of layered histories and quiet transformations – where monastic pasts and craft legacies coexisting in close proximity. This tour, primarily aimed at young people from underrepresented background, explores shifting thresholds, examining how architecture and development dictate who belongs and whose voices endure.

Starting at 1. Grimshaw Architects at 6pm, we reflect on the area’s shift from industrial heartland to creative quarter. We then move through Clerkenwell’s side streets towards 2. AHMM Architects at 7pm, considering how adaptation and development influence which histories are retained and which are rewritten. The tour ends at 3. Waugh Thistleton at 8pm, where sustainable practice prompts a discussion on material use, climate justice, and who gets to shape the future city.

Whose stories are built into the city – and who is building what comes next?

We’re meeting at the front of the office space. The entrance is on the ground floor and clearly marked. It’s a short walk from Farringdon station. Look out for the brick façade and large glass doors. There’s no buzzer — just head straight in and let reception know you're attending an event. If needed, ask for directions to the Narrative Practice team at the front desk.

The walking tour will cover approximately 1.5 miles on mostly level, paved routes, with regular stops for rest and discussion. Step-free access is available throughout, and we will aim to accommodate any specific mobility needs if notified in advance. Unfortunately, parking is limited in the area, so we recommend using public transport where possible. A quieter space for rest or sensory breaks can be arranged on request at the final stop.
