Sutton Community Dance is due to create a performance for Voices, as part of the London Festival of Architecture 2025. The piece will reflect the theme - how they clash, unite and shape identity - through movement, rhythm and emotion.
The performance will be an intergenerational piece incorporating dancers of all ages. It will open with a scene of multiple groups shouting at one another, representing conflicting voices and perspectives. Amidst the chaos, one dancer will break away, running from the noise in search of clarity. This individual embarks on a journey of self-discovery through dance, ultimately finding strength and expression in their own voice.
The performance will involve the red ribbon, a key piece used from the Mid-Autumn Festival. The performance is due to be 3 to 4 minutes and will happen multiple times throughout the day.
Without speaking a word, performers will portray how voices through motion can challenge, guide and ultimately help us discover our own. This powerful public performance celebrates non-verbal expression and collective identity in a vibrant and accessible way.
