Sounds of Wood Street is a mobile celebration of community, culture, and place in Barnet. Set around our custom DJ van, this interactive installation brings together music, conversation, and personal stories that reflect the area's identity. Residents - especially young people - will learn DJ skills, share memories, and record audio stories exploring what Barnet means to them. Through live music, spoken word and casual storytelling, we’ll create an evolving soundtrack of local life. Events will take place at Wood Street College and a second public site, giving space to those whose voices are often missed in conversations about place. The recordings will be made available online, forming part of the Festival’s audio legacy.

This will be a relaxed event, meaning there is no pressure to stay for the full duration or participate in any specific way. People are welcome to drop in and out as they feel comfortable. The DJ van is accessible at street level, and all activities take place outdoors in step-free public spaces. We do not anticipate any strobe lighting or loud unexpected sounds, and our team will be on hand to support anyone who may need additional help.
