Rebellious Spaces places community voices at the centre of design and decision-making. Rooted in the diverse context of Kilburn, it empowers local residents to co-author visions for their shared urban future. By using interactive tools—storytelling, mapping, model-making, and dialogue—the event ensures that voices not usually heard in architectural or planning processes are brought forward, listened to, and visibly represented in the development of the Kilburn Space Lab. This participatory approach embodies the spirit of Voices by transforming design into a space for civic expression, care, and collaboration.
How can Kilburn reclaim its public spaces? How do we create a place for the community to gather, collaborate, and imagine new possibilities for the future?
Building on the Rebellious Spaces Community Engagement Workshop, this event will present key insights, proposals, and strategies for a Kilburn Space Lab, a community-led initiative to establish a shared urban space for conversation, collaboration, and creativity.
Through interactive presentations, mapping, and discussions, this session will bring together the community and beyond to reflect on community-led design, local identity, and the future of neighborhoods.
Hosted in the Tenants’ Hall of the Alexandra & Ainsworth Estate, one of London’s most iconic Brutalist landmarks.
