What is a pub when it’s not a pub? Without pints being poured, or the clinking of glasses, what remains? A meeting place. A platform for stories. A space for connection.
For one evening, the iconic but now-closed Tower Tavern will transform into P.U.B. – Platform for Unwritten Books, a lively hub of unwritten stories, untold ideas, and interdisciplinary creativity, before the pub moves to its next form. The event will function as a Human Library, where people from all walks of life become “books,” sharing experiences and conversations that inspire new narratives.
Following the tradition of displaying various ephemera on the pub walls will be multidisciplinary works - photos, paintings, models, and drawings - from across the College of Design, Creative and Digital Industries, University of Westminster, remaining for a weeklong exhibition. We will generate chatter at the bar, though this one will be over architectural models of projects responding to the idea of giving objects a voice.
Professor Pippa Catterall, chair the University of Westminster Press editorial board, will offer insights on transforming ideas into written works, ensuring that some of these voices find their way to the page.
