Join us for an interactive workshop at the University of East London (UEL), in collaboration with UCSI University and NGO Colllab from Malaysia, and supported by Axalta Powder Coatings.
This session will explore how bio-based materials—such as agricultural by-products, biochar, and seashells - can give voice to construction solutions often overlooked. Building on this year’s LFA theme, ‘Voices,’ we will amplify the stories of non-human voices—those of ecosystems and communities impacted by unsustainable material choices and waste.
Through experimentation, participants will engage with bio-materials, crafting innovative solutions that optimize mortar use through interlocking geometries. Axalta’s bio-based resins and colours will enhance the tactile experience, highlighting the potential for materials to communicate sustainability.
Led by UEL and UCSI academics, the workshop will also include a discussion on carbon footprint reduction, encouraging a deeper understanding of how design choices can give voice to environmental responsibility.
All tools and materials will be provided.
