Consultation processes are a requirement for most architectural and urban planning projects, designed to allow citizens to participate in the making of their local built environments. Who has access to and influence within these processes can show us whose voices are seen as valuable in our communities and whose are often ignored. This co-design workshop will examine and reimagine consultation processes with disabled people through group discussion and guided activities. It aims to provide a space to come together to share experiences, learn from one another, and imagine a more equitable future for architecture and urban planning.
The workshop is designed for built environment professionals and/or disabled people/carers. Attendees can expect to gain insight into a variety of approaches to engagement, and the needs of disabled people within them. It is led by Olly Player, a student on UCL’s Disability, Design, and Innovation MSc and graduate inclusive design consultant.
