See a unique design and build process to create houses completely from a city’s waste, with innovative & disruptive Artist / Designer Adam Ge-Saelis. This process can be used to teach those without a Voice in how a city works, functions and evolves.
The homeless are forgotten and ignored yet our city makes more of them each year. Regardless of reasons they could be given an opportunity to speak via practical educational programs. Using my personal experience and various design and recycling techniques the homeless may have some choices and chances of a better future. They could be heard and seen in a completely different light.
I myself was homeless for a few years and this influenced my artistic & design practice. I have since taught myself many different techniques of designing and building and would like to share these skills with others. At my studio premises, TheLondonMine, finished buildings and others in partial construction, can be viewed. The event will encompass a tour of the site that will include workshop spaces, storage and reclamation areas, the Art Studios, I We Create, the Urban Farm project and Gallery Spaces, all built and created from London’s waste.
There will be an open discussion on how a city can evolve to provide space for the homeless and why this should be a matter of priority for urban planning and management. Guests will be shown different ways of designing & building that are determined by the amount and type of materials that are available at any given time.
To book a ticket, please email events@thelondonmine.com
The workshop session and tour will take approximately 2-2.5 hours but it is preferable to book into one of the time slots but guests may stay longer or for both slots with a break for complimentary snacks and drinks.
