'A Coat of Strengths' is an architectural installation created for the community/residents living within the Winstanley Estate, north Clapham Junction, London. It is the Winstanley Estate's residents own Coat of Arms making their individual strengths overt.
Drawing inspiration from the artist M.C. Escher - whose work is situated nearby and also reflecting on the previous landowner Sir Oliver St John in 1775, the work echos historically to its current residents.
Informed by a collaborative art workshop, individual 'hidden' strengths have been gathered, translated and made overt; their artworks laser cut into a stainless steel sheild forming a lasting community 'Coat of Arms' - and a longer legacy for future generations.
