The theme for LFA2025 is ‘Voices’. The year’s theme offers a platform to experiment with both the visible and invisible threads that shape our environments. Building on the progress already being made by key industry leaders, it’s a time to highlight existing initiatives and encourage new partnerships to further inclusivity and innovation.

Emerging voices

Young people are key to the future of the city, and in particular one that has equity, sustainability and creativity at its heart. This year’s programme includes activity to both celebrate emerging voices and creativity, alongside opportunities support the next generation to upskill, learn and feel empowered.

Historical voices

London is a city where the past, present and future are all highly present in how we understand the city – with the fabric of our city consisting of roman walls and pre war churches sat alongside innovative skyscrapers and public gardens. This year’s programme includes activity which gives a voices to the built and intangible heritage of our city, alongside explorations of how historic and contemporary voice complement and contradict each other.

Industry voices

The built environment industry is key to the mission of moving towards a more equitable and sustainable city for all. This year’s programme includes moments for conversation and challenges around topics of belonging, co-design, inclusive design and the barriers still faced by many in our industry.

Global voices

Each year the Festival brings together voices from across the world to tackle some of the key issues we collectively face and showcase some of the lesser known voices and stories. This year’s programme includes activities around heritage sites and voices, alongside proposals for alternative modes of creating and maintaining our unique spaces.

London is made up of many unique neighbourhoods, each with their own voices, projects and plans that are specific to those living and working in the area. This year’s programme includes youth-led panels exploring the future of our city and industry alongside celebrations of the local leros and spaces in our city.

We are in a global climate crisis, yet many of the practices, systems and materials we use go against our collective work to combat this issue. This year’s programme includes explorations of alternative materials and ways of designing, alongside moments for knowledge sharing and upskilling.

Our city and architecture are made up of many voices, spaces, stories , and neighbourhoods. Yet many voices have been long overlooked due to inadequate systems and missed opportunities. This year’s programme includes activity tackling issues ranging from motherhood to representation, alongside celebrations of underrepresented and underserved voices in our city.
